Around each hind leg. A loop around each hind leg keeps the rear piece under the hips. It's held on by the loops rather than by friction under the belly, so fit it snug: tighten until nothing turns when you lift gently.

Onto your shoulder. Clip on the shoulder strap and lift from your shoulder.
